What is K-12 Students Write?
K-12 Students Write is an online newspaper for students (Pre-Kindergarten thru twelfth grade) to showcase any of their original schoolwork relevant to state and national educational standards. The website is displayed in the form of a newspaper where students nationally will be able to e-publish writings, videos, audio files, and image. Additionally, students will be able to collaborate and interact with other students through Wikis and Blogs.
What is the purpose for K-12 Write?
The purpose of K12writes.com is to support the Common Core Standards, in particularly the College and Career Reading Anchor Standards and Literacy Skills. Students will be able to use prior knowledge to apply, analyze, and evaluate writings from other students nationally.
Who can view the newspaper?
The contents on the website can be viewed by anyone who can connect to the K12writes.com.
Who can post on K12writes.com?
Only students from PK through 12 grades can post. Each student must be assigned to at least one of their teacher’s class to post.
What can be posted on K12writes.com?
Only school-related work according to state and national education standards should be posted to the site.
How is K12writes.com monitored?
Posts are reviewed by a K-12 Students Write representative prior to being posted on the site. It is recommended that teachers create and save filters for PK-5 students and direct those students to the filtered area of the newspaper.
